About
MFI Medical, a San Diego-based medical equipment and supply company, distributes a wide range of healthcare-related products, from anesthesia machines and surgical tools to blood pressure cuffs and IV poles. They also offer products for specific medical specialities, such as cardiology, physical therapy, and radiology.
Products can be purchased through their website and other channels such as DOTmed, eBay, and Walmart. The company was founded in 1980 by Annette and Arnold Wiesel and remains family-owned to this day.
Background
MFI Medical’s product line includes upwards of 45,000 SKUs and over 100 different vendors. To more effectively manage their extensive backend tracking and logistical information, the company decided to adopt a new enterprise resource planning (ERP) system. While selecting a new ERP, the team realized they would need to go a step further and integrate the platform across their tech stack if they wanted to gain a truly comprehensive view of their data.
The team decided to leverage an integration platform as a service (iPaaS) to connect all of their current systems. Chief information officer at MFI, Adriana Zulewski, wanted a solution that could be implemented quickly and smoothly. “We needed something that would immediately satisfy our need to connect our ERP and all of our other ecommerce platforms,” said Zulewski.
Featuring hundreds of prebuilt integrations, the ability to create custom flows, and excellent customer support, Celigo fit the bill perfectly.
The challenge
As the transition to the new ERP got underway, the team identified areas of opportunity and critical capabilities they were looking for in an iPaaS. The system had to be operable with a small team of two, and since neither of them had much technical expertise, it needed to be intuitive and easy to navigate.
Another consideration was the ability to automate manual tasks. Manual processes were wasting time and resources across teams. This was a particular issue for pricing. Their process required an employee to spend several hours each week importing and exporting CSVs. “We just couldn’t keep putting so much time into all of these manual processes,” said Zulewski. “It wasn’t sustainable with our growth.”
The solution
Zulewski worked with Celigo to set up their new ERP system and associated integrations. The first integration they tackled was with their ecommerce platform since most of their orders came through their website.
Impressed by the smooth process, the team quickly dove into adding additional integrations to automate tasks. They successfully implemented automatic pricing and information updates across the tech stack. Thanks to Celigo’s user-friendly platform, Zulewski was able to create custom integrations herself.
Zulewski highlighted Celigo’s AI-powered error management, which automatically resolves 95% of errors, as a standout feature of the platform. This enabled her team members to identify and address any remaining errors quickly.
Bottom line
With Celigo’s integrations, MFI Medical has reduced their reliance on manual processes and gained a new level of transparency into their data. “We would not have been able to grow our team and order volume to the extent that we have if it wasn’t for Celigo,” said Zulewski.
Celigo’s support and training has been crucial to the team’s success. In fact, Zulewski has become Celigo certified. Zulewski cited this ongoing support as a big reason MFI Medical remains a loyal Celigo customer.
Having all of their integration flows in one location has been a massive time-saver for the entire team. With the Celigo platform, they now have full transparency and control over mapping and rules for handling EDI documents. This enhanced oversight has empowered the team to proactively identify and resolve issues before they disrupt operations and quickly adapt to the needs of their trading partners.
When it’s time to add a new platform or third-party system to their tech stack, Zulewski knows exactly where to turn, “Celigo is our go-to solution if we need to integrate anything across the business,” Zulewski said.
By transitioning to the Dynamics ERP and replacing third party integrations with Celigo, we reduced our fulfillment errors by 80% and achieved a 99% on-time fulfillment rate. It helped us become more proactive rather than reactive. We’re envisioning future problems and solving them with Celigo.
